The ANA-Illinois strives to represent nurses on Springfield, facilitate meetings so all nurse associations in Illinois can work together to advance our common advocacy agendas, and help state agencies and elected officials propose and enforce new laws that will advance our profession. ANA-Illinois serves to amplify nurses’ voices as policies are conceived, debated, and implemented. We create long-lasting relationships with nurses and their representatives, working to establish a health system where care is accessible, of high quality, and recognizes the nursing profession as an integral component.

The Illinois Society for Advanced Practice Nursing works in collaboration with the Illinois Association of Nurse Anesthetist (IANA) and the Illinois affiliate of the American College of Nurse-Midwives to advance the practice of all APRNs in the state.  ISAPN is the information source for APRNs regarding legislative activities, practice information and education across the state.  We have expertise in policy interpretation and implementation and work with our members to shift the culture so institutional barriers can be eliminated.

Registered nurses represent the largest segment of health professionals in Illinois and across the country, with more than 197,000 in the state and 4 million nationwide. Nurses not only represent an incredible force by sheer numbers, but policymakers rely upon their expertise as they work to improve our state’s health system. For 17 years, nurses have outranked all other professions in Gallup’s annual honesty and ethics survey and are viewed as the most trusted profession.
